Asian Medical Students' Association (AMSA) Malaysia

About AMSA Malaysia

AMSA Malaysia has earned a high reputation for being a well-organized medical students¡¯ association with nearly 20years of outstanding service and contributions to the society.

AMSA Malaysia was originally pioneered by a group of students in the National University of Malaysia (UKM). With its motto, ¡°Building Bridges, Sharing Dream¡±, we are committed to creating nationwide opportunity with Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) , Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), International Medical University (IMU), International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) and Royal Perak College of Medicine (RPCM) for mutually beneficial partnerships .

Our work focuses on enhancing educational opportunity and creating health-conscious medical students via public health awareness programs, academic and motivational seminars and research studies. Our student exchange programs also receive praises from our sponsors and visiting hosts, as there is nothing like the camaraderie of overseas touring to foster cultural understanding and to lift the spirit of our members to a high pitch of togetherness in action. Besides, we are involved in numerous charitable activities including charity jumble sales, orphanage home visits, and outreach programs to the rural folks, as well as marking our calendars busy with worldwide celebrations such as World AIDS Day and World Health Day.

AMSA Malaysia is proud to host the 26th Asian Medical Students¡¯ Conference (AMSC) with its fascinating theme ¡°Technology in Medicine: Embracing the Progress, Serving the People¡±. It¡¯s once in a lifetime experience for young aspiring doctors in Asia and Oceania to meet people from all walks of life and to discuss current issues pertaining to medicine. Throughout the years, AMSC has challenged medical students to step out of their comfort zone, to think beyond their textbooks and most importantly, to embrace not just the science of medicine, but also the art of medicine.

Currently, we are gaining recognition by benevolent organizations such as MERCY, RMCC, Malaysian AIDS Council and WHO for our unending support and contributions. As we march on the 21st century, we hope to reach out to the "3Ls" group of people namely, the less, the lonely and the lost in the spirit of brotherhood that transcends language and boundaries to make this world a better place to live in.
